Holder of a PhD in Management Sciences (2009), I am Full Professor at HEC Liège, the Management School of the University of Liège (Belgium).

I am responsible for academic activities (research, teaching & services) in the field of sustainability & strategic management of organizations (in a broad sense). I am leading a team of doctoral, post-doctoral and senior researchers, as well as applied researchers and project managers in this area.

Over the last decades, I have developed various research projects combining sustainability, strategy and management control of organizations as well as research on the management and the governance of Sustainable and Smart Cities/Territories.

I have published numerous articles in international scientific journals such as Ecological Economics; Public Management Review; IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management; Technological Forecasting and Social Change; Journal of Cleaner Production; Administration and Society; The Annals of Regional Science; Government Information Quarterly; International Review of Administrative Science; Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal; Social and Environmental Accountability Journal; Cities, etc. In parallel, I have contributed to several book chapters and my research work has been regularly presented at the most prestigious conferences in my fields of research (EGOS, EURAM, EAA, ERSA, etc.). I am also a member of the editorial board of the Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal and a member of the steering committee of the Environmental and Sustainability Management Accounting Network (EMAN-EU.com).

In complement to academic publications, I have always been involved in more applied research projects such as the Smart City Barometers, a series of practical guides on managing Smart Cities and Territories. These research outputs have been widely downloaded and used in French-speaking countries (such as Belgium, France, Canada, North Africa).

From an international perspective, I have developed a lot of collaborations with other universities, business schools and various organizations (businesses, local and regional governments, territories) all over the world, especially to deal with issues related to sustainability, strategic management and Sustainable and Smart Cities. I have had visiting academic positions at the Schulich School of Business (Toronto, Canada), Nottingham University Business School (Nottingham, UK), Leuphana University (Luneburg, Germany), Rennes Business School (Rennes, France), EDHEC (Lille, France), University of South Australia (Adelaide, Australia), Rotterdam School of Management (Rotterdam, Netherlands) as well as NOVA SBE (Lisbon, Portugal).

Finally, at HEC Liège/ULiège, I have been taking several institutional responsibilities, such as:
